Gene has more than 40 years of proven experience in the legal and construction industries. Previously, he led the Denver office of Polsinelli, an Am Law 100 national firm, and represented clients involved in domestic and international construction projects and business transactions. 

Today, with his firm Gene Commander Inc., he helps businesses grow and stay ahead of the curve by adopting innovative planning strategies across a variety of areas, including succession planning, business growth strategies, enterprise risk assessments, leadership and career development, and shareholder and executive compensation as well as customized mediation and arbitration services. 

Gene has a long history of engagement with the Associated General Contractors of Colorado, including co-founding its annual Executive Leadership Academy, as well as being a frequent instructor and contributor to the training program. He also is a member of the Center of Legal Inclusiveness and has been active in a number of civic endeavors, including being appointed by Denver Mayor Michael Hancock to serve on the Denver Urban Renewal Authority board of commissioners and served on the board for the Downtown Denver Partnership and Denver Civic Ventures.  

Gene received his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Iowa State University.
